T-Wolves Make it Two in a Row!
After losing 12 straight football games the T-Wolves of Timberline beat Meridian a week ago by scoring 20 points in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter to win 26-25. Putting a skid to the losing skid was exciting but now Timberline wanted to prove they could continue to win.
Thursday at Dona Larsen Park Timberline hosted Centennial. The Patriots came into the game with a 2-1 record and took an early 13-0 lead and it looked as if Timberline would be back to their losing ways.
Then Taylor Marcum ripped off a 70 yard run straight up the middle just before the half and Timberline cut the margin to 13-7 at the break.
Marcum wasn't done as he took the second half kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown and Timberline took a 14-13 lead.
The T-Wolves would go on to beat Centennial 28-21 to extend their win streak to two straight and to go 2-2 on the year. Centennial is also 2-2 and pending what happens the rest of the weekend there could be as many as five teams 2-2 in the 5A SIC standings.
Tonight Boise is at Mountain View and the Mavericks are a huge favorite to win and go 2-2. Tomorrow Borah and Meridian play at 11am at Dona Larsen Park, both are 1-2 so the winner will be 2-2.
That's four teams at 2-2 for sure and the possibility Capital, now 2-1, may join that group. The Eagles play at Rocky Mountain where the Grizzlies are favored to improve to 4-0 and knock Capital to 2-2.
Likewise the Eagle Mustangs are expected to beat 0-3 Skyview tonight to run their record to 4-0.
So, if everything falls as predicted, come Saturday night Eagle and Rocky Mountain will be 4-0 with 5 teams, Capital, Centennial, Timberline, Mountain View and either Borah or Meridian all at 2-2.
That's a playoff log jam in the 5A SIC standings halfway through the regular season and will make for an interesting finish.
Next Friday Mountain View is at Eagle as our McDonald's game of the week on 630 The Fan kickoff 7 p.m.
