Idaho Vandals Face 8th Ranked Eastern Washington
The Idaho Vandals knew it was going to be a good day when on Southern Utah's first offensive play Lloyd Hightower of Idaho intercepted a pass, the first Idaho interception of the year!
The Vandals, who had forced just one turnover in the previous six games would force the Thunderbird's into four turnovers en-route to a 31-12 win.
It was by far the best defensive showing of the year for Idaho and seemed to ignite the offense which flew to a 31-0 start.
Vandal wide receiver Cutrell Haywood caught 7 passes for 71 yards and 3 touchdowns. Quarterback Mason Petrino played his best game of the year.
When the Vandals did have to punt, Cade Coffey was up to the challenge averaging 51.8 yards per punt including an 80 yard bomb! Coffey was named the Big Sky special teams player of the week,.
Next up for the Vandals is Eastern Washington in Cheney Saturday at 1 p.m. Boise time here on sports radio 630 The Fan. Eastern is ranked in the FCS top 10 and will be a major test for Idaho on the Eagles red-inferno field.
