When the BYU football team takes the blue field Saturday night against the Boise State Broncos their quarterback will be a former Boise State recruit named Zach Wilson.

Some have tried to make a case for Wilson's defection from BSU to be a rally cry for victory. Boise State coach Bryan Harsin says it's no big deal because it happens often in recruiting battles and it's not even a factor in Saturdays game.

In fact, BYU running back Squally Canada was also a Boise State commitment who ended up at BYU. Like coach Harsin says, they're everywhere!

What makes the Wilson story interesting is he waited until a week before the signing date to de-commit.. That's how the Broncos ended up with Jaylon Henderson, now the back up to Brett Rypien.

Wilson's decision to go to BYU comes as no surprise, he being a Utah athlete with a chance to play near home. Wilson says he has nothing but respect for Boise State and is looking forward to playing a game in the stadium he thought about calling home.

The freshman says he doesn't regret his decision because here is is playing as a freshman and that doesn't happen very often.

When nit comes down to it, there are a lot more reasons for Boise State to seek a win than revenge for a de-commitment. Like bowl considerations, protecting the blue, reputation, bragging rights...the list goes on.

Kickoff Saturday is 8:15 p.m.and Boise State is favored by a pair of touchdowns despite a history of close games against the Cougars at Albertson Stadium.
