The Idaho Steelheads (3­-3-1) scored four goals in the second period, rolling past the Indy Fuel (3-2-0) in a 5-3 win on Tuesday night from Indiana Farmers Coliseum.

The Fuel scored the game’s opening goal at 8:46 of the first period on a bounce from the left corner that bounced to a friendly stick to place the puck in an open net. Toward the end of the frame at 17:51, Steelheads forward Brad McClure put back a rebound in front of the net between the legs of the waiting goaltender to tie the game at 1-1.

In the second period, the Steelheads pulled ahead with four goals in less than five minutes. Steelheads defenseman Clint Lewis scored his first professional goal at 7:04 with a slap shot from the blue line to take a 2-1 lead. Forward Spencer Naas then scored off a faceoff at 9:11 to double the lead followed by McClure’s second goal of the night on a wraparound 62 seconds later at 10:13 as well as a power play goal from defenseman Jeff King 75 seconds after that tally at 11:28, bringing the Steelheads lead to 5-1. Fuel forward Josh Shalla cut into the lead, 5-2, at 17:14 with a goal toward the end of the frame.

The Steelheads continue their tour of the Central Division against the Toledo Walleye on Friday, Nov. 2 at 5:15 p.m. MT from Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio.
