The Idaho Steelheads have agreed to terms with defenseman Cody Corbett on an ECHL contract for the 2017-18 season. Corbett is preparing for his fourth professional season.

Corbett, 23, played parts of last season in the ECHL and in the American Hockey League, finishing the season with the South Carolina Stingrays and playing a significant role in their run to the Kelly Cup Final. The Lakeland, Minnesota native was a Colorado Avalanche prospect at the start of last season, playing 23 games in AHL San Antonio and seven with the Colorado Eagles. In March he was traded to the Washington Capitals and reported to the Stingrays.

The 6-foot-1 blue-liner scored two goals and earned ten points in San Antonio last season, while recording three goals and 11 points in 18 games between Colorado and South Carolina. He registered a goal and eight assists in 22 playoffs games for the Stingrays, tying for the team lead in scoring among defensemen
