Nationally Ranked Eagle High Softball Suffers First Loss
Boise High pitcher Eden Cook had the right stuff Tuesday night as she blanked the Eagle Mustangs 2-0 in 9-innings and Boise earned a trip to the 5A State Softball tournament handing 21st Nationally ranked Eagle it's first loss of the season.
Cook allowed just 4-hits and struck out 15 Eagle batters as the Mustangs 24-1-1 on the year felt defeat for the first time in 2018.
Despite their lofty national ranking the Mustangs are still looking to earn their way to the state tournament and can do so with a win over Mountain View tonight.
Rocky Mountain also punched it's ticket to the state tournament with a 13-3 win over Mountain View to set up tonight's Mustang-Maverick showdown.
Interestingly the 5A boys baseball tournament handles district play a little different.
The Top 2 teams in the regular season SIC Standings automatically earn state tournament berths and play a best of three series for the District Title. The format puts an emphasis on an entire season of work.
Rocky Mountain and Mountain View were 1-2 this year with Rocky winning the best of 3 district series 2 games to none with both teams advancing to state.
