Idaho Steelheads Fall Into a 3-0 ECHL Crevasse
Talk about a slippery slope! The Idaho Steelheads are in elimination mode down three games to none to the Allen Americans with two more games (maybe) in Allen, Texas for the Americans to wrap up the series.
The Americans jumped to a 4-1 lead Wednesday and coasted home for a 5-3 victory and a 3-0 series lead. Idaho has now given up 13 goals in three games! Game four is Friday night and if a game five is necessary it would be Sunday in Allen.
If you are wondering, the Steelheads have been down 0-3 in an ECHL playoff series four times before and all four series ended in four games. At least the Steelies kept the pain to a minimum and made it a quick exit each time. Speaking of exits, Idaho has been knocked out of the ECHL playoffs in the first round each of the last two years and are on the verge of making it a hockey trifecta.
Ironically no one saw this coming. Idaho had nailed down a playoff spot and home ice advantage and was undefeated in their final 10 games. Allen didn't qualify for the playoffs until the final night of the regular season and now are on the verge of round two.
