Chandler Hutchison will be in New York tomorrow night for the NBA where most mock drafts have him being the 22nd overall pick and going to the Chicago Bulls.
Boise State head coach Leon Rice will accompany Hutchison to the draft where "Hutch" is looking to become the first Boise State basketball player taken in the NBA first round.
Hutchison applied for the draft two years ago as he considered skipping his senior season but removed his name from, draft consideration in time to play one more year for Boise State and that senior year really paid dividends.
Hutchison is coming off a season where he averaged 20.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game in leading the Broncos to a 23-9 record and a second-place finish in the Mountain West.
The Mission Viejo, Calif., native finished his Bronco career tied for first in career wins (87) while also reaching the school career top-10 lists in both points (1,478 – 9th) and rebounds (672 – 6th). His 13 career 20-point, 10-rebound games and 22 career double-doubles also puts him first and third, respectively, in Boise State school history.
The 2017-18 season saw Hutchison earn All-Mountain West First Team, USBWA All-District VIII and NABC All-District 17 First Team honors for the second-straight season. His 44 points against San Diego State (Jan. 13) gave him the single-game scoring record and later that week he was named the U.S. Basketball Writers Association National Player of the Week.
His senior campaign also saw him become the first Boise State player in school history to lead a team in points, rebounds, assists and steals, and ended the 2017-18 season as just one of two players in NCAA Division I to accomplish the feat.
Hutchison is one of two Mountain West players being mentioned in the top 60 picks, the other is Brandon McCoy of UNLV predicted to be the 43rd pick and go to Denver.
