AP Football Poll Has Boise State No.22
The pre-season AP college football poll released today has Boise State ranked 22nd, the only Mountain West team in the top 25 but the Broncos are one spot behind UCF ranked 21st.
UCF went undefeated last year and was the New Years Six Bowl representative.
UCF was upset with the coaches poll which was released earlier and has Boise State ahead of them. The AP ranking negates that advantage and both teams will start the season in a virtual tie as the leader for this years New Years Six Bowl invitation.
This is the 14th straight year Boise State has been ranked in the AP top 25 and while the Broncos certainly feel they have a tough schedule and they do, not one Boise State opponent is ranked in the top 25.
Still, the Broncos game at Troy September 1st has been listed as one of the top 10 most interesting games of the opening weekend. Troy not only has Boise State in September but also Nebraska and with last years upset at LSU the Trojans could quickly join the New Years Six Bowl conversation with the right bounces.
FYI, Alabama is the AP pick at #1 for the third straight year with Clemson 2nd followed by Georgia.
