While you might want to think twice about your personal safety, you can legally own these animals as pets in the Gem State.

Lions and tigers and bears, amirite? According to Business Insider, no federal law exists that regulates a citizen's right to own exotic animals. It's instead decided state by state if you can legally own some of nature's most beautiful, and dangerous, creatures.

Here are the most surprising animals you can legally own in Idaho. While you can't go outright and purchase them and keep them around, with a permit you can do just that:

Tigers.

Remember watching Aladdin as a kid and being super jealous of Princess Jasmine's pet tiger Rajah? Me either. However, in cartoons it looks super adorable. A big furry kitty to call your own and cuddle with forever. Until you realize that tigers are in no way domesticated and will rip your throat out if you even look at them funny.

Seriously, you know how they say that cats will eat their owner's carcass after they die? A full-grown tiger will turn their owner into a carcass.

Primates.

This one is a little more grey because some monkeys are completely adorable. For years they've been used on TV as comic relief, and as the stars of traveling circuses worldwide. One could understand having a cute little monkey as a pet, but a silverback gorilla? At 350lbs, probably not the best idea to have them free roaming around the house.

Bears.

Nope. Just nope. This is a terrible idea. Other than a cute and cuddly newborn bear cub that wants to play with your dogs, owning a bear sounds awful. A 1500lb bear could literally cease your existence with one swipe of their giant paws. Don't believe me? They even made the "10 worst animals to own as pets" list.
