The Idaho Steelheads are playing their best hockey of the season as they closed out the regular season with four straight wins. Three of those wins came at the expense of the Alaska Aces. The Aces, who have folded as a franchise, had a chance to extend their future and make the playoffs but an Idaho sweep in Anchorage ended an era of hockey in Alaska. For the record, Idaho was 87-53-14 against Alaska over the years.

The Steelheads will now prepare for an opening round Kelly Cup showdown against the Colorado Eagles starting Friday in Colorado. Allen the defending ECHL Kelly Cup Champion hosts Utah in the other Mountain division semi final series.

Idaho finished the regular season 43-22-7, the 5th most wins in the ECHL and their four straight wins matches a season high. Last year Idaho lost in the first round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs to Allen.
