Record Pay Raise for Former Boise Hawk
Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant didn't spend much time as a Boise Hawk but enough to say we saw him get his start.
Last year his 39 homers, 102 RBI and .292 batting average helped the Cubs win the World Series title and now that performance has earned Bryant a record pay raise.
Bryant has signed a $1.05 million dollar contract for 2017 making him the highest paid second year player in baseball history. Bryant made about $652 thousand last year.
His new deal surpasses the previous mark of $1 million set by Angels outfielder Mike Trout in 2014.
Obviously the 1.5 million is just the tip of the pay curve as Bryant will become eligible for arbitration after the 2017 season and while he's singed through 2021 the raises will no doubt keep coming for the former Boise Hawk.
