Idaho State Teammates on NFL Coaching Hot Seats
As another NFL regular season winds down there's plenty of talk about which coaches are on the hot seat.
Most lists include Dirk Koetter of Tampa Bay and Marvin Lewis of Cincinnati. That's ironic because the two have been connected since the late 70's as teammates at Idaho State University.
Koetter's Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 5-9 following their loss to Baltimore 20-12. The Bengals of Marvin Lewis are 6-8 and while Lewis does have a winning percentage slightly above 50% he's also 0-7 in the playoffs and many believe nothing less than an 8-8 season and a playoff win at some point is needed to save his job.
Koetter, a former head coach at Boise State, has won 44% of his games as head coach in Tampa and his seat may be one of the hottest of all.
Ironically the two, Koetter and Lewis not only played at the same time for the ISU Bengals but also lived in the same house for a season. Koetter was a quarterback in Pocatello and is still considered one of the top offensive minds in the game. Lewis played safety for the ISU Bengals.
Only time will tell if their decades of friendship will take the next step together as NFL coaches in search.
