The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl started in 1997 as the Humanitarian Bowl and has gone through several name changes and sponsors but one thing has remained constant, the game is played in cold weather. This years game is set for Friday December 22nd.

I remember waiting for the Clemson Tigers team bus to arrive at their hotel in 2001. The team bus pulled into the parking lot during a snowstorm. The Clemson players hoped off the bus and immediately began throwing snowballs. They weren't in South Carolina anymore!

Over the years teams like Virginia, Miami, Southern Mississippi, Georgia Tech and Louisiana Tech have played in Boise.

This year it's a matchup more akin to the longest running cold weather bowl game in history as Wyoming and Central Michigan collide.

Central Michigan QB Shane Morris says he likes playing in the cold. In fact Morris says all important games are played in the cold.

Wyoming QB Josh Allen is also used to playing in the cold so that's not a problem. Allen is more concerned with getting a win on the Blue, something Wyoming has never accomplished.

Allen says, "We have some unfinished business in Boise, it would be nice to go on the road and get a win there."

Central Michigan head coach John Bonamego says he has heard nothing but good about the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl and the Boise fans and is looking forward to the experience.
