Five years ago, at the age of 31, Eli Drinkwitz was the tight ends coach for Boise State football. The year was 2014. In 2015 Drinkwitz became the quarterback coach for the Broncos and in 2016 he left Boise to become the offensive coordinator for North Carolina State .

Drinkwitz didn't leave BSU alone, he took Ryan Finley with him and Finley became North Carolina State's starting quarterback and was drafted by the NFL.

In 2018, with Finley gone, Drinkwitz accepted an offer to become the head football coach at Appalachian State At 35 Drinkwitz told the Appalachian State faithful that this wasn't just a stepping stone.

Today Drinkwitz was officially introduced as the new head coach of the Missouri Tigers of the SEC with a six year deal averaging 4-million a year.. He is 36 years old.

In 5 years Drinkwitz has gone from tight ends coach in Boise to Head coach at Missouri, a five year window that has left a lot of heads spinning.

I asked a local coach and others if they thought that was the plan all along for Drinkwitz and the general consensus was unanimous, no one can predict that type of five year plan, it;s just something that happened and you have to embrace each opportunity as they arise.

If Eli thought the last few years have been a roller coaster, buckle up because Missouri's ride in the SEC will be like nothing Drinkwitz has ever experienced!.
