Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Ballers’ Renewed for Season 3 at HBO, Because Duh
Oh, we’re sorry, did you think HBO would give up its partnership with one of the world’s last true movie stars? Whatever your take on the football-fueled Ballers (it’s definitely less obnoxious than Entourage), HBO and Dwayne Johnson have officially laid down a Season 3 renewal for next year.
The official HBO press release declined to specify an exact episode order (another ten seems reasonably likely), though it’s at least worth pointing out recent concerns of Florida tax credits making a third season of Ballers challenging. Netflix’s Bloodline similarly overcame the expense issue to continue shooting in Florida, while HBO says:
Dwayne Johnson, Stephen Levinson, Mark Wahlberg and the rest of the BALLERS team have once again delivered a winner for our viewers. We look forward to another great season of BALLERS next year.
Produced by Johnson and Entourage heads Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson, half-hour dramedy Ballers follows the lives of Miami-based active and retired athletes, Johnson among them. The series also stars Hot Tub Time Machine traveler Rob Corddry, Omar Benson Miller, John David Washington, Troy Garity, Donovan Carter, Jazmyn Simon, Taylor Cole and LeToya Luckett.
