Bowl Game? What Bowl Game!
One week from tomorrow the Boise State Broncos will play Washington in the Las Vegas Bowl but for now it's really all about early signing day next Wednesday December 18th.
Boise State hasn't even practiced since their win over Hawaii for the Mountain West Championship because all the coaches have been on the road trying to secure the future.
Boise State's first real practice for the Vegas Bowl is today (Friday) as the coaches return from their recruiting trips. Make no mistake the early signing day, still in it's infancy, is welcomed by the coaches but for Boise State and other schools with early bowl games the process is complicated and hectic.
Fortunately Washington is in the same boat which means neither team has given much more than a passing thought to the other until right about now.
Next Wednesday Boise State has even scheduled a thirty minute press conference to talk solely about recruits and not the bowl.
Right now the Broncos have 13 verbal commitments but none of those are quarterbacks and BSU head coach Bryan Harsin says they will sign at least one.
The highest ranked recruit among those who have given a verbal commitment is Herbert Gums, a 6-1 247lb defensive tackle who also had offers from LSU, Missouri, Arizona and several more. Gums gave his verbal commitment via twitter just yesterday.
Of course verbal is just that and coaches will work hard right through next Wednesday to get signatures all the time juggling preparations for a Bowl game now just 8 days away.
