A BSU Weekend to Remember
If you are a Boise State sports fan I ask this question, Has there even been a more exciting weekend in Boise State athletics?
If so I can't remember!
The fun began last Friday in Eugene where the BSU men's basketball team ended the nations longest home winning streak with a half court buzzer beater.
Oregon and Boise State were tied 70-70 with 4 seconds to play when Lexus Williams hit nothing but net from half court at the buzzer and Boise State beat Oregon 73-70. Oregon had won 46 consecutive non conference games at home tops in the country.
Saturday all eyes were on the Mountain West Football championship game at Albertsons stadium. Fresno State took a 14-10 lead into halftime but the BSU defense came up huge in allowing the Bulldogs just 85 total second half yards and no points.
Boise State put together a 90 yard drive to win the Mountain West football championship 17-14.
Shortly after the victory Boise State learned it is headed to the Las Vegas Bowl to play Oregon of the Pac 12 on December 16th. The Broncos head into the bowl with a 10-3 record. Boise State football also cracked the top 25 at #25 in the AP, Coaches and the College Playoff polls.
On Sunday the fun continued for Boise State fans as the Bronco men's basketball team improved to 8-1 overall with a 77-54 win over Portland. Chandler Hutchison led the way with a rare triple double of 23pts, 10 assists and 10 rebounds. Today Hutchison was named the Mountain West basketball player of the week.
If that's not a fun sports weekend for Boise State fans then I've never seen one!
