5A SIC Football Games All Count Towards Playoffs
The high school football season starts tonight as Boise and Centennial collide at Donna Larsen Park and the outcome will count towards the playoff picture in November.
The 5A SIC football league went through some changes in the off-season with Skyview moving in and Kuna, Nampa and Columbia moving out!
The change created a 10 team league of parity with every game, every play determining playoff futures.
With 10 teams, each team can now play 9 regular season games, staying in the SIC with the longest travel being from Boise High to Skyview!
The Pod system of the past few years was dropped meaning every game a team plays has playoff ramifications.
In the past if a game was between a Pod-A and Pod-B team it didn't count towards the playoffs. That learning luxury is history and comes as the 5A SIC seems to have the most parity in years!
Sure Mountain View, Rocky Mountain, Eagle and Capital will once again reign among the leaders but there are others looking to join the party.
Skyview was 10-1 last year losing only to Minico by 1-point in the playoffs. Borah has been to three straight playoffs and has a ton of talent returning.
That's six of the 10 teams right there who can cause havoc on any given Friday. Last year Meridian and Timberline both won 4 games and came close a few other times.
That leaves only Boise who went 0-9 last year to prove they can have a say in the playoff outcome and under this years system where on slip up can cause bedlam the Braves might just spoil a few dreams.
