The good news for Centennial is the fact they beat Borah 2-1 to win the 5A Girls District III soccer championship but the bad news is the "curse".

No 5A District III girls soccer champion has also won state the same year since soccer was sanctioned by the Idaho High School Activities Association in 2000. It's called the "curse" but the Patriots (16-2-0) don't believe it's real even though it happened to them last year.

Centennial is the defending district title holder and last year lost to Lake City in the state semi finals. The Patriots say they aren't worried about the "curse" and just happy to be the district champs for the second straight season.

In boys soccer Boise was led by Caden Baratkart's two goal permanence to a 3-0 win over Borah. The Braves (15-1-1) have now won four district titles in the last six years.

The Braves claim the district title is great but going back to back as state champs has been the goal all season.

The Idaho State 5A Soccer Tournament starts Thursday October 19th at Eagle High.
