Saturday was a fun night of basketball at Capital High school on 630 The Fan as the top two seeds in the 5A District 3 tournament advanced to Fridays title game at 7 p.m. on sports radio 630 The Fan.

#1 seed Rocky Mountain jumped to a 10-0 lead over Centennial en-route to a 69-54 win. Once again the Patriots had no answer for 6-10 Kolby Lee down low as he poured in 27 points.

Then it was Boise's turn. The #2 seed raced to a 9-0 lead on Borah but the lions weren't about to go away. The game was tied 33-33 with 3:33 to go in regulation and neither team could buy a bucket.

Boise had the ball with 90 seconds to play and decided to wind the clock down and take the last shot. An inbounds pass with 3.6 seconds remaining went to Paul Pennington in the corner but the Boise guard was double and triple teamed.

Pennington made the only move he could a fall away jumper from downtown. Pennington released the ball and fell backwards landing out of bounds. The ball swished the net at the buzzer and Boise won 36-33.

Friday night 7 p.m. it's Boise-Rocky for the title and we'll have it right here on sports radio 630 The Fan.
