Boise is one of the best places to live for active dog owners because there are plenty of things to do with your pup in the great outdoors such as running, hiking, camping, hunting, and even swimming! However living here also puts dog owners and their pets at risk of encountering potentially dangerous wildlife, including rattlesnakes.
According to Animal Med Center, dogs are about 20 times more likely to be bitten by venomous snakes than people and are about 25 times more likely to die if bitten. Dogs are also 500 times more likely to be bitten by a poisonous snake than to get rabies, as reported by petinsurance.com. Thankfully, there is actually training out there to combat your dog's natural curiosity with these venomous snakes.
Positive Pets Dog Training here in Boise is hosting a special training session called, Get Rattled Rattlesnake Avoidance Training on Monday June 28th 2021. This training will help ensure safety, as well as a peace of mind for you, knowing that your dog will not react in a way that puts them at risk of suffering some serious pain or in some cases death when and if they come in contact with a rattlesnake.
Appointments are available between 9am – 4pm. Please call 208-888-0708 to register or for more information.
In addition to proper training, it also might be wise to consider what is called the the Red Rock Biologics rattlesnake vaccine which helps provide protection against poisonous snakes and their bites for dogs who live or frequent areas where rattlesnakes can be found.
