Shootout Goes Six Rounds as Steelheads Beat Utah
Steve McParland scored in the sixth round of a shootout and Ryan Faragher denied Sam Windle to secure a 6-5 victory for the Idaho Steelheads (24-14-6) over the Utah Grizzlies (16-19-10) on Wednesday night at Maverick Center in Utah.
McParland now has points in six straight games for Idaho. Idaho jumped to a 3-0 lead
The Steelheads’ victory, coupled with a loss for the Wichita Thunder in Tulsa, gives the Steelheads a three-point advantage for second place in the Mountain Division. Idaho’s win snapped a three-game losing streak.
The Steelheads jumped to A 3-0 lead but Utah was awarded 8 power play opportunities to zero for Idaho and that helped the Grizzlies climb back into the game as they scored on 4 of the 8 power play attempts. Utah had three goals in the final period to tie the game.
The Steelheads and Grizzlies play again Friday and Saturday in Utah.
