Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament in Meridian Today, Winner Gets $10,000 for Charity of Their Choice!
First Federal Bank put together a massive Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament in Meridian Today. 32 Treasure Valley Businesses are competing for $16,500 in prizes for charity. First place gets $10,000, Second Pace gets $5,000 and Third place gets $1,000 for the charity of their choice!
First Federal Bank announced this is the first annual Rock Paper Scissors Tournament for charity. Meaning they are planning on making this a yearly event. If you are in or around Meridian today, the event kicks off at 6:00 PM at Julius M. Kleiner Park.
I am excited to be participating and competing in the event! My chosen charity is Girls On The Run. A wonderful organization that inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. They envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. I am a strong promoter for girls growing up to be independent, strong and kind individuals and love the work this organization does in the Treasure Valley. I recently got to spend some time with the girls and could not be more excited to -fingers crossed- win $10,000 for them to further the vision and help more girls achieve their dreams and goals.
“We’re really excited to bring this tournament to the Boise area,” said First Federal
President and CEO Jason Meyerhoeffer. “We held our third annual Rock Paper Scissors tournament in Twin Falls earlier this year and plan to continue the tradition of raising money for charities here as well.”
According to the press release, Each of the 32 businesses selected a champion to represent the business during the tournament, and each champion chooses a charity to play for. Champions will face off until the final winner is crowned.
“This is a really fun way to raise money and awareness for local charities,” said Jim Reames, Treasure Valley Market President. “And it’s a great way for local businesses to come together, have some fun and compete for a great cause.”
The public is invited to attend the tournament and cheer for their favorite business or
charity. Food vendors, music and a beer garden provided by Heritage Hop Haus will
begin at 5:00 pm with the tournament starting at 6:00 pm.
Consistent with CDC guidelines, participants are encouraged to practice hand hygiene, “social distancing” and wear face coverings to reduce the risks of exposure to COVID-19. While masks are not mandatory, First Federal will have masks and hand sanitizing stations available.
Meteo from my sister station KISS FM, our studios literally share a wall, is also participating in the tournament. The charity he is competing for is The Saint Paul's Educational Foundation. The organization works to raise and provide money to local students who wish to pursue an education at St. Paul's Catholic School, Bishop Kelly High School, or a college of their choice. Good luck to all the participants :)
