The season has flown by and as we head into week 8 of the high school football season only two teams remain unbeaten in the 5A and 4A ranks.

Rocky Mountain leads the 5A standings at 7-0 and the Grizzlies will be home Friday night hosting the Eagle Mustangs. This game had all the makings of a 1-2 match up a little more than a week ago before Eagle was upset by Timberline 23-22.

Eagle now 5-2, is ranked 5th in the latest state media poll and they're without starting quarterback Ben Ford who suffered a season ending knee injury against Timberline and will need surgery.

Maybe the most intriguing game tonight is Borah at Mountain View. The Mavericks are 6-1, their lone loss to Rocky Mountain while Borah is 5-2 and riding the athleticism of Austin Bolt.

Bolt plays no less than four or five positions every game, he's scored 21 rushing touchdowns and has thrown for 3 td's. Bolt is the lightning in the Lion offense but will it be enough to take down the Mavericks?

Borah at Mountain View 7pm Friday the McDonald's Game of the Week on 630 The Fan, join me for all the action.

Other 5A games Friday are: Capital at Centennial and Skyview at Timberline. Week 8 began Thursdsay with Meridian beat Boise 61-6. Meridian now 3-5 and Boise 0-8.

Kuna is the lone unbeaten team in 4A and they'll be at Emmett Friday. Emmett struggling for identity this year at 3-3.

Other 4A games Friday are: Bishop Kelly at Ridgevue, Middleton at Columbia, Vallivue at Nampa and Gooding at Caldwell.

The regular season comes to a close a week from today.
