Koch is Looking to Improve from Last Season
The Centennial High School Patriots had a rough 2014 football season. Coach Koch did not have much time to prepare the Patriots for the 2014 season due to being hired so close to the beginning of the season.
Despite not having the best 2014 season Koch said, "Lots of kids played hard last season." Of course Koch is looking to improve this season, and through having a lot more time with the kids in the off-season than last year it should be easy for the Patriots to do just that.
This year's Seniors have set a motto for the season to 'never settle'. Koch has seen this motto throughout the summer. The Patriots are never satisfied and always wanting to get better and wanting to improve in each workout and practice.
The Patriots have 10 returners back for the 2015 season, (five on offense and five on defense). Some of those returners are Kenon Bartlett (linebacker), Jace BeGrang (wide receiver). Koch and the Patriots are excited to have Brandon Anderson (quarterback) back from a broken collar bone injury last season. He was out most of last year's season so the team is excited to have him back and to see what he can do for the Patriots this season.
The senior class is not the only class making sure the Patriots improve this season, the junior class is getting in the weight room as much as they can and working hard, according to Koch. Daniel Faraimo (honorable mention linebacker), Ian Burupp (honorable mention defensive back), are stepping up and making sure their teammates are wanting to get better everyday and keeping them on task.
Conditioning has been going well for Koch and the Patriots. By not getting much of an off-season last year, Koch thinks it will pay off this season. Koch is seeing a great turnout this summer is seeing kids improving.
With the season opener slowly creeping up, Koch says, "we prepare just like everyone else. Focus on ourselves, focus on cleaning up our offense and defense. We don't care who we play, we just need to focus on ourselves."
When asked who the Patriots biggest competition will be, Koch chuckled and said, "Realistically when you go 0-9 last season, everyone." Koch went on to say, "We are looking to get after it."
