Usually, when a suspect of a crime is arrested in Boise, the apprehension of the perp is usually something like:

  • "The suspect was caught during a high-speed chase"
  • "A criminal was apprehended after a long chase on foot"

You know, the typical stuff.

This story isn't that. Like, at all.

Wait. So police used an actual rope to catch this dude? Why?

That was our reaction too. Until we found out what this guy did.

33-year-old Shannon Levi of Boise was arrested early this week after a lengthy pursuit by police. Around 1:20 a.m. Tuesday morning, police began a chase of Levi's 2008 Chevy Silverado after deputies were called in to assist. What happened next is the weird part.

Police rolled out spike strips, disabled the perp's vehicle, so he proceeded to run into the Boise River to try and evade police.

Yes. You read that correctly. Here's where the fun begins.

Levi was unable to get himself out of the Boise River (which is why you should never just randomly swim in it), and police threw him a rope to bring him to safety. After which he was immediately arrested.

The investigation is ongoing.

It's not the only crime committed this year that feels really...weird. We're not sure if Mercury is in the microwave or what, but 2025 does feel v different.

Did you hear about this elaborate bong-bust that happened recently? Well, you're in for a treat.

Wait until you hear about all the paraphernalia that was discovered when police busted up this situation:

Items Discovered in Boise Police 'Bong Buster'

Call it a 'Bong Bust' or a full blown raid--two were arrested late last week
