An educational YouTuber seems to think that we either don't exist or are a bunch of "nobodies." Geography by Geoff released a video yesterday explaining why "Nobody Lives in Eastern Oregon, Eastern Washington, and Idaho."

According to Geography by Geoff, the Pacific Northwest, which he defines as Oregon, Washington, and Idaho, has two very different sides. These two areas are split by the Cascade Mountains. Over 10 million people, which is 72% of the area's population, live on the tiny sliver of land that is west of the Cascades, including Seattle, Portland, Tacoma, and Bend, and the remaining people live in the "empty" part that includes Eastern Washington, Eastern Oregon, and all of Idaho.

Since he titles the video "Why Nobody Lives in Eastern Oregon, Eastern Washington, and Idaho," I can only assume that he didn't think anyone would see it or take exception to it. But we did!

Listen, Geography Geoff, there are plenty of people here. There are more by the day, and the people that you actually believe exist are trying to move here to get away from those places. You seem like a smart guy—not super fun, but definitely smart. So, why would you call us nobodies?

Does the fact that the rest of the United States generally thinks of us as an afterthought or that when we are mentioned, it always comes with a potato reference bother you? Have we just grown so used to it that we don't care? Or are we hoping that if people think life here is boring, they won't move next door?
