Why Would You Leave This Disgusting Note In A Boise Parking Lot?

Sunday morning, I went grocery shopping with seemingly the entire Treasure Valley. The Fred Meyer on Federal was packed with people buying everything they needed for their parties. No one wants to watch football without chips, dip, soda, beer, wings, pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs, chili, and other snacks you associate with football, Kansas City or San Francisco.

Because I only needed a few things, I wasn't willing to drive around in circles until a spot close to the door opened up, so I quickly parked towards the back of the parking lot in the first available spot. I ran into the store, grabbed the four or five things that I needed, and went to self-checkout. Believe it or not, because of the amount of people in line, and the amount of people that just looked lost and confused standing in the middle of the aisles, this process took about 20 minutes before I found myself carrying my bag to the car.

As I approached my car, I could see that someone had left a note on my driver's side window. Immediately, I felt that feeling you get when you think someone may have hit your car and your very basic day was about to beciome quite complicated with calls to the insurance company. At the same time, I felt grateful that I live in a place where someone who hits your car would be so honest. It's one of the many things I love about living in Boise.

As I arrived, I couldn't see any obvious signs of damage, so I was somewhat relieved. Then I read the note, and my demeanor completely changed. It said, "Kill yourself! Or learn how 2 park!"

I took a step back to see how I was parked, and yes, at first glance, it looks like I crowded one side of my spot, but that was because the car that was originally parked next to me did the same. This person assumed that I parked this way to make their life more difficult or that I did this because of inexperience. Imagine getting this note while you were going thropugh a mental health crisis.

The rude nature of this note was concerning to me. It's something that I've noticed all over the Treasure Valley lately. Just four years ago, when I moved into my apartment complex, the people felt so welcoming and now, I feel like the newer people have brought with them a new, indifferent and rude attitude. I hope that notes like this aren't a sign of where our friendly community is going.
