Weekly health inspections by the Central District Health Department at multiple Treasure Valley restaurants have become violations at six different establishments. One Boise restaurant received five violations.
Lucky Chef Asian Foods inside the Food Court at Boise Towne Square was cited for improper employee eating and drinking habits in the food prep areas, receiving food from unapproved sources, inadequate hot and cold holding temperatures, and failure to implement a proper food dating system. These five violations could lead to foodborne illness, causing customer sickness and potential outbreaks. With this many violations at once, you have to wonder if the owner is properly investing in the business, training staff, or has a complete disregard for safety.
El Gallo Giro in Meridian was slapped with three violations: lack of a Certified Food Protection Manager, improper cleaning and sanitizing of food contact surfaces, and inadequate reheating procedures for hot foods. These three violations raise concerns about management's attention to food handling practices.
Grant's Grill was cited for two food safety violations: improper separations and protection of food and inadequate cleaning and sanitizing of food surfaces. This could cause cross-contamination between raw and cooked foods.
Paris Banh Mi in Meridian received violations for improper hot holding temperatures and inadequate food dating systems, meaning that they have challenges maintaining safe temperatures for hot foods and tracking the shelf life of refrigerated foods.

In Idaho, hot food must be maintained at 135 degrees or higher, and ready-to-eat refrigerated foods have a seven-day maximum storage period.
Central District Health conducts regular inspections to ensure that area restaurants are correctly cleaning, storing, and cooking foods and using best practices to keep customers and employees safe. These inspections took place between February 4th and 10th, 2025.
A follow-up inspection took place on February 11th at Lucky Chef Asian Foods, and no violations were found. Grant's Grill's follow-up inspection on February 7th also found no violations. Paris Banh Mi had a follow-up inspection on the 12th, and no violations were found. There is currently no record of a follow-up inspection at El Gallo Giro.
