Struggling Auto Parts Chain Quickly Shuts Down Stores in ID, WA
One of America's most prominent auto parts stores is set to close over 700 stores, including locations in Idaho and Washington by the middle of 2025. This isn't surprising, as Advance Auto Parts announced that it planned to reduce its store count on an earnings call in November.
This week, the company is getting slightly more specific about its plans in a news release. While we still don't know all of their plans for Idaho and Washington, we did find out about closings in some other states. Hilco Real Estate is overseeing the sale of the 24 buildings that Advance Auto Parts owns and plans to part with. Because those locations are now listed for sale, we know they will lose at least one store in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin.

It's important to note that those are just the locations where they own the building, and they are expected to close at least 676 more. Some of those have already quietly happened.
In Idaho, the Couer d'Alene location is now officially closed, according to the company's store locator. The Washington store listed for sale is the one in Lynnwood, which remains open, while another location, Wapato, Washington, has already closed.
A report from MarketWatch in November suggested that two more Idaho locations could be at risk, and so could the entire state of Washington, as they could be getting out of the West Coast altogether. That would jeopardize all of their remaining stores in Oregon, California, Nevada, and Arizona, in addition to those in Washington.
