One Of The Most Mispronounced Places in America Is In Idaho & It’s Not Boise

It's almost like nails on a chalkboard, right?

Make it stop, already! Like the natives of Boise say: "If you're going to live here, pronounce the name correctly."

Luckily, it seems that people are catching on, even those who are new here. Usually, if we hear someone mispronounce "Boise" (Boy-See), it's typically some big out-of-town musical act and we're usually pretty forgiving for that.

They're here to entertain us after all, right?

This is the new city you'll have to help newcomers pronounce correctly...

A new report reveals another popular city in Idaho is one of the most mispronounced in America. If we're being honest, when we saw this report we automatically assumed it was Boise and almost moved on.

That is until we realized it wasn't.

According to Frommer's, a site specializing in travel, they revealed the top places in America that are the most mispronounced. In Idaho, it's none other than Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

We have to admit, we've heard some interesting attempts when talking to people who aren't from Idaho. We've heard things like "coor-duh-lean" and "cower-dee-uh-lene."

In case you didn't know, it's pronounced: kor-duh-LANE.

While that might be obvious to locals, one thing we found interesting was how this site says that people from Idaho refer  to Coeur d'Alene as "CDA", going as far as to call it "local practice."
