I have some news that might make your day—or at least make you chuckle at the thought of getting money back from Walmart. Yes, you read that right. If you've ever wandered through a Walmart between October 19, 2018, and January 19, 2024, digging through bins of oranges or weighing the pros and cons of pork vs. poultry, there's a chance Walmart owes you money.

In what sounds like the plot of a modern David vs. Goliath, Walmart has agreed to pay $45 million in a class-action lawsuit settlement. Walmart might have been too eager with its pricing of these weighted goods, and now, it's paying the price.

  • Bagged citrus items: Oranges, Tangerines, and Grapefruits
  • Packaged Poultry
  • Packaged Pork
  • Packaged Seafood

If you've purchased any of the items mentioned earlier during the given dates, you could be eligible for a slice of the settlement pie. No receipts? No problem. You can still attest to your purchases. For those who can barely remember what we had for breakfast, let alone what we bought at Walmart five years ago, the claims process is surprisingly forgiving. Attest to buying up to 50 items, and bam, you're $10 richer. Assert your way up to more than 101 items, and you're looking at a whopping $25. That's almost enough for a celebratory dinner (if you cook at home and drink water).

But wait, there's more. If you're one of those organized souls who keeps receipts, you could get back 2% of the total cost of your substantiated purchases, with a maximum payout of $500. Now, I'm no mathematician, but that sounds like a lot of oranges.

Jokes aside, if you think you've got a claim, you have until June 5, 2024, to throw your hat in the ring. And while there's a Final Approval Hearing set for June 12, 2024, let's cross our fingers that there are no appeals because, as the saying goes, time is money. File your claim here!
