The 1 Unwritten Rule Everyone Is Breaking On The Boise Greenbelt

We don't know who needs to hear this but we've got two words for you: SPEAK UP!

It's quiet... too quiet...

If you've ever been on the Boise Greenbelt, then you know how relaxing it can be but also how dangerous it can be - if you're not paying attention. But, there are some instances where not speaking up can be just as dangerous as pointed out by one Boise Reddit user.

"I work right next to the Greenbelt on Parkcenter and I go for a short walk every day at lunch," said Reddit user u/rosycross93.

"So I was out yesterday and was coming near two women walking in the other direction. From behind them some nut job lady on a bike blows right between the three of us just as we were abreast of each other."

Something bad could have happened

"What if one of them had stepped to her left? It would have taken all of us out," the Reddit user asked in their post.

And it's a good question: what if someone got seriously hurt? The incident wouldn't have been because someone was speeding, but because the person on the bike didn't have the courtesy to yell out a warning or give a heads-up to these people taking in the Greenbelt by foot.

"No warning, no 'behind you' for those other women, nothing. Like she owned the path."

We don't know if it's just a lack of common courtesy or if the people responsible for putting others in danger are just now experiencing the Greenbelt for the first time. It's important to let people know when you're approaching from behind, especially on a bike or electronic ride.

The message we should all be taking away from this is clear:

SPEAK UP!
