Idaho Steelheads Carve Playoff Path
The Idaho Steelheads are literally melting the ice with some torrid hockey that for the 22nd season in a row has earned them an ECHL playoff spot.
Idaho swept the Rapid City Rush this past week, they've now won five straight games, earned home ice advantage for the first round of the playoffs and for the 11th time in 22 seasons the Steelheads have won at least 40 games.
The latest victory was Saturday night as Cole Ully scored two goals and Tomas Sholl made 14 saves and the Idaho Steelheads (40-20-7) skated to a 5-2 win over the Rapid City Rush (21-39-6) on Saturday night in front of a sell-out crowd 5,119 at CenturyLink Arena, one of 16 sell out crowds this season.
Sholl remains unbeaten in regulation following his sixth straight win, now 11-0-2 on the season.
The Steelheads remain home for their final series of the regular season at CenturyLink Arena, a two-game set against the Utah Grizzlies beginning on Friday night. Puck-drop is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. MST.
