The Boise Hawks jumped to a 3-0 lead over Vancouver Sunday night and survived a late Canadian rally to win 3-2.

Vancouver scored a run in the 8th and again in the 9th and with a runner on first and just one out, Juan Pena came in and struck out the final two Canadian batters.

The Hawks also got it done with the bats. Sean Bouchard and Daniel Jipping both had big nights as the rookies are making it look easy for Boise. Bouchard continues to have the best batting average on the team while Jipping homered in the game for the sixth of his career in just 13 games.

Juan Pena recorded the final two outs after he came in for reliever Ryan Luna in the 9th inning. Luna allowed two runs in 6.2 innings while Pena shut the door and struck out Reggie Pruitt and Kevin Vicuna to end the game

The two teams play again Monday at Memorial Stadium before the Hawks leave town for Salem-Keizer on Wednesday.
