Boise State center Mason Hampton has been placed on the Rimington Watch list as one of the top college football lineman in the country.

Hampton, who started every game at center for Boise State last year was named All Mountain West honorable mention. Hampton, a Meridian native anchored the center of the Boise State line that led the way to a league leading 472.8 yards a game in offense.

Hampton also excels in the class room where he was named an Academic All American First team. Just the 5th BSU football student-athlete to earn that honor.

The Rimington trophy recognizes the top offensive lineman in the country and is named after Dave Rimington who played for Nebraska. Dave was an Omaha native and was so dominant as a center for the Huskers he was named the Big 8 (yea that was a few years ago) offensive player of the year his senior season. He was the first and only lineman to earn that award.

Like Rimington a Nebraska native, Hampton is an Idaho native proving local players can make a hue difference.

The winner of the 2017 Rimington Award will be recognized January 13th in Lincoln, Nebraska.
