Boise State And Idaho Await March Madness
College basketball is front and center this time of the year as the March Madness fever has many teams in a full sweat including Boise State and Idaho who both jump into action on Thursday.
Boise State is the #2 seed at the Mountain West Tournament in Las Vegas where they'll play the winner of Wednesdays Utah State-Colorado State game. The Broncos have never won a Mountain West post season basketball tournament and it may be the only road they have to the NCAA dance.
If the Broncos advance to the Mountain West final and if the opponent is Nevada and if Boise State plays the Pack tight, they might have an at large chance to crack the NCAA Tournament field but right now the only sure pass is to win the tournament.
In Reno at the Big Sky Tournament the Idaho Vandals are facing the same scenario as BSU. Idaho is the #2 seed in the Big Sky and will play Southern Utah Thursday at 6:35 p.m. and the only path for a Big Sky team to the dance is as the tournament winner.
The Vandals vs. Southern Utah game can be heard on sports radio 630 The Fan, pre-game at 6 p.m. Thursday.
To make things more interesting this year part of the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament are in Boise. Could the Vandals be sent to Taco bell arena? It's possible.
That's what all the madness is about. Every team in the country is 0-0 and all possibilities are on the table. Granted some hopes and aspirations are pipe dreams but better to chase a dream than not.
