It is beyond me and I will never understand how a parent could make a conscious decision to do something that will hurt their child for life. Let me explain, yesterday I'm driving home and since it was 90 degrees most cars had their windows up. I stopped at a red light and when I looked at the car next to me I saw something horrific. Two parents smoking in their car with the windows up and their toddler sitting in the car seat behind them inhaling all that nicotine. Why would they do that to their baby? I took everything within me to not yell at them. I thought... do they not know the damage they're causing or do they just not care?

According to the the CDC "Cigarette smoking remains the leading cause of preventable disease and death in the United States. Cigarette smoking kills more than 480,000 Americans each year. In addition, the United States spends more than $300 billion a year on smoking-related illness, including more than $225 billion in direct medical care for adults and $156 billion in lost productivity."

News flash... Nicotine is addictive and these parents are basically getting their helpless children addicted. Smoking parents just in case you don't realize mindcotine has some insight as to what you're doing to your kid.

"second-hand smoke affects a person’s health but for children, it can cause wheezing and coughing, can trigger asthma attacks, ear infections, and there is also a study that shows children that have a parent that smokes are sick more often. Their lungs also don’t grow as big as a child that doesn’t have a parent that smokes"

Am I overreacting? Am I being a Karen about this? What are your thoughts?
