The Ducks Deal BSU a Tough Hand
The Las Vegas Bowl carries lots of cherished memories for Boise State. The Broncos are 3-0 with wins over Utah, Washington and Arizona State.
This time the Broncos roll into Vegas to face an Oregon team with a loaded deck. The ace is quarterback Justin Herbert who when not nursing a collarbone injury is leading the Ducks to a 6-1 record while averaging 52 points per game.
When Herbert didn't play this year Oregon was 1-4 averaging 15 points per game. That's an Ace in the hole.
Herbert is just a sophomore who stands 6-6 and weighs 225 pounds. He makes plays happen and is already on the NFL and Heisman radar.
The Ducks have been made a seven point favorite and I really haven't seen anyone who gives Boise State a chance to win it's 4th Vegas Bowl.
That's actually the way this team prefers it, fly under the radar and attack before the opposition knows it's coming.
Of course you'll need all your weapons and Boise State has some issues. Star running back Alexander Mattison is a game time decision after being hurt in the Mountain West title game. Jake Roh, the Broncos big tight end has missed the last two games and coach Bryan Harsin says Roh will also be a game time decision but to hear Roh talk, he'll play. Yesterday however Roh did not participate in Boise States practice, didn't even wear a helmet.
Kickoff Saturday is at 1:30 p.m. on ABC.
