The Idaho Steelheads have been knocked out of the Kelly Cup playoffs in the first round for the second straight season. Last year Idaho couldn't get past Allen in the first round and Allen went on the win the Kelly Cup Title. This year the Steelheads fell to the Colorado Eagles 4 games to 1 and the demise was mentally painful.

After winning a game on Colorado ice the Steelheads seemingly had the series right where they wanted it, tied 1-1 with three straight games on home ice Unfortunately it was Colorado who melted the ice from right under the Steelhead skates with some red hot play.

After winning Wednesday of last week to take a 2-1 lead Idaho knew game four Friday would be pivotal and so the Steelheads came out on fire.

Idaho jumped to a 4-0 lead over Colorado and you started sensing this series was going to be tied 2-2 and head back to Colorado.

That's when the Eagles began to chip away. Goal by goal Colorado made it interesting, too interesting as they tied the game 5-5 with 9 seconds to play in regulation.

Then, just 41 seconds into overtime Colorado scored, won the game 6-5 and took a 3-1 lead in the series. Saturdays game 5 was a mere formality as Colorado won the game 6-3 and for the 9th time in 20 Kelly Cup playoffs the Steelheads were done after one round. Colorado won the series 4 games to 1.
