Surprise: Did You Know This Famous Statue is Actually in Idaho?
The Statue of Liberty has been a long-standing symbol of the values of the people in The United States. People travel from all around the world to see Lady Liberty in New York, but did you know there’s another Lady Liberty statue in Idaho?
This Famous Statue is Actually in Idaho?
I came across this information by accident. I was looking up information on an old fire near Wendell, and in a picture of their city offices, I could see a silhouette of the famous statue. It isn’t very big and it is a cutout of the famous tourist attraction with the words ‘For All’ cut out of the bottom.
That image led me to a Google search to find out more about this art piece in Wendell. The real surprise came when I found out that there was an actual Lady Liberty statue in Idaho. She stands at the end of the fittingly named Liberty Pier at Lake Pend Oreille in Sandpoint.
The miniature Statue of Liberty in Idaho was a gift to the city of Sandpoint back in 2003. She’s about 1/50the the height of the original in New York, according to Only In Your State.
How To Get To The Sandpoint Statue Of Liberty
Lady Liberty can be found at the end of a pier at the Sandpoint City Beach Park. Directions can be found on this Google Map or you can watch these tourists find her in the YouTube video below.
She’s not as impressive as the original in New York or the replica in Las Vegas, but she seems perfect hanging out at the lake.
