Driver Dead After Losing Control of Truck and Hitting Tree Near Idaho Lake

An elderly pickup truck driver is dead after losing control of his vehicle and hitting a tree near Lake Pend Oreille.

Idaho State Police are investigating the crash.

As we approach the end of the 100 Deadliest Days of Summer in Idaho, the Idaho State Police have reported the 4th deadly accident near Idaho’s popular Lake Pend Oreille. All 4 accidents have involved a pickup truck, though the latest is the only accident that didn’t involve another vehicle.

The crash happened on September 1st, around 6:40 PM on Garfield Bay Road, on the west-central side of Lake Pend Oreille. The ISP report states:

A 64-year-old male from Sandpoint, Idaho, was driving a 1991 Ford F150 on Garfield Bay Rd when the vehicle left the roadway on the right shoulder and struck a tree.

The driver passed away at the scene of the crash and the accident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

The other fatal accidents reported by ISP in the Lake Pend Oreille area happened on May 25th, 2 people died in the accident, June 21st, 1 dead in Sandpoint, and August 23rd, 1 dead in Sagle.
