It's that time of the year again: March. Insert all of the cliche things that come with Spring, here-- right? The showers, the flowers, the cold and the sun. We get it all here in the Treasure Valley.

One thing that Boise isn't used to having in March? Madness.

There's a reason that everything becomes a 'bracket' this time of year--and it's because of the world renowned NCAA men's and women's basketball tournaments. For years, the masterful bracket mania has taken over just about every aspect of commercial marketing and contesting across the nation.

For lovers of basketball in the Treasure Valley it's great. For Boise State fans, it has, historically, not meant much.

This year, like the last two, is going to be a big one for Boise State fans, however.

Head Coach Leon Rice is about to lead this crew into 'The Big Dance' of March for the third year in a row and fans are here for it. In the past, Boise State making it to the tournament would rely on them winning the conference championship. This year, they're just that good and will be playing in the tournament no matter what.

A big win over the weekend has solidified the already 'sure bid' for the Broncos.

While on the road at San Diego State University (a ranked program that was last year's national runner up), Boise State played tough in a game they really weren't picked to win.

The Broncos sent the game to overtime:

And with the additional time on the clock, sealed the deal with a win. Probably one of the largest road game wins in Boise State's history.

Mountain West Conference Tournament play begins this week and it's a relief to realize that this March the Broncos are simply 'in'.

Boise State's Most Underappreciated Star

Boise State seems to mean "football" for most, right? On a national stage, after all, it's the blue turf and the success that the Broncos have had on it that made the university a household name. What happens on the hardwood, however, is far from appreciated at the level that it should be. Leon Rice came to Boise State as a blessing from one of the most powerful basketball programs in the nation: Gonzaga University. Now, the winningest basketball coach in the history of the school seems to take immediate heat if the Broncos aren't in the Final Four. Spoiled by wins on the football field, fans seem to expect the same of the basketball program but when the investment in basketball is so much less than football--can you really have these types of expectations!?

This Former Nampa Basketball Star is ESPN's Darling

It's not often that you see Sports Center re-run a single play as often as they did last night. The good folks at ESPN could not get enough of the dominating performance by one particular Texas Tech player who left it all on the court. His team defeated Baylor-- the defending National Champion and the only remaining undefeated team in the country this season.
Plot twist, this player has some serious Idaho ties-- with NO offers out of High School, Adonis Arms played in Nampa at Northwest Nazarene University where he gained the skill set and the reputation to make his way up to the big time stage.
