There’s One Last Chance to Do Summer at Bogus Basin
For a lot of us, Bogus Basin still automatically means one thing... Skiing.
I was talking with some friends recently about live music and suggested they head up to Bogus for Music on the Mountain. Their reaction was, “Bogus? For music?”
They had no idea how much happens on the mountain when there isn’t snow on the ground and if you haven’t experienced summer at Bogus yet, you’ve got one final long weekend to do it.
Bogus Basin’s Summer Season Ends Labor Day
I recently had Bridget with Bogus Basin’s marketing team in the studio, and she reminded me just how much there still is to do before summer operations wrap up on Labor Day.
The mountain is open through Monday with summer activities including hiking, mountain biking, scenic chairlift rides and the Glade Runner Mountain Coaster.
That coaster is still on my own list and when I told Bridget I hadn’t ridden it yet, she warned me, “You cannot go just once.”
Riders control their own speed, and apparently Bridget’s preferred technique is “all gas, no brakes.” I have a feeling I know which option I’ll be choosing.
Music, Yoga and More Are Happening This Weekend at Bogus
There are several more opportunities for Yoga on the Mountain over Labor Day weekend, including Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday morning and Labor Day Monday. Sunday also features a special Sound Bath Yoga class.
Then Saturday brings the final Music on the Mountain of the season.
Jeff Crosby headlines the free show on the Base Area lawn from 1-5 p.m. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, grab something to eat and spend the afternoon listening to live music on the mountain.
And yes, free is still one of my favorite concert ticket prices.
One More Reason to Head Up to Bogus
Maybe the best part is that you don’t have to plan an entire day around a specific event.
You can take a scenic chairlift ride go hiking, bring the mountain bike, finally ride the mountain coaster or just escape the Treasure Valley for a few hours and enjoy being somewhere a little cooler with a pretty spectacular view.
Bogus Basin wraps up regular summer operations on Labor Day, so this is the last chance to experience this side of the mountain before everyone starts thinking about snow again.
And after talking with Bridget, I’ve realized I’ve waited long enough on that mountain coaster.
Apparently we’re going all gas, no brakes.
