Idaho Steelheads Are Bucking The Odds
It was exciting to watch as the Idaho Steelheads rallied from a 3-nothing deficit in their opening round Kelly Cup playoff series to beat Allen 4 games to 3.
It was only the second time in the 30 year history of the ECHL playoffs that a team had recovered from a 3-0 start to win a 7 game series.
It was headline material but in truth, the team was glad to have a clean slate in their series with Colorado. The slate didn't stay clean for long as the Eagles won a pair of games in Loveland to quickly take a 2-0 lead in the series.
So Idaho began it's first round down 0-3 and now the second round down 0-2. This is not a pattern that will lead to a Kelly Cup championship, at least the odds are astronomically against it!
So when they say tonight's game is a must win, it really is! You can only mess with the odds for so long before they catch up with you.
If Idaho falls to 0-3 tonight even Yogi Berra might agree that while normally "it ain't over till it's over" this series could be the exception.
On the bright side, Idaho went 4-2 against Colorado in Boise this season so the Steelies are more than capable to stringing three home victories in a row to go back to Loveland up 3-2 or even tied 2-2.
By the way, congratulations to Rick Guth who won a pair of tickets to nights game three at Century Link arena by listening the 630 The Fan.
We have another pair of tickets to give away tomorrow in the 8a.m. hour of Dan Patrick for game 4 Thursday. Be listening for the cue to call.
