Fruitland’s Joey Martarano to Play For College of Idaho Coyotes
Number 7 for Boise State isn't done with his football career just yet. Joey Martarano says there are still a few I's to dot and T's to cross but if everything goes as planned, he will play football for the College of Idaho this fall.
Martarano was Boise States starting linebacker with 120 career tackles before he left the Broncos for a chance to play baseball in the Chicago Cubs organization in 2015.
Early on Martarano tried to do both by playing minor league ball in the summer then returning to Boise State for football but he eventually decided to give baseball 100% of his time.
He was recently released by the Cubs and his eligibility clock at Boise State had run out so he turned to the College of Idaho and it's NAIA program where rules of eligibility grant him another year.
Martarano plans to enter school as a senior and would certainly big a huge boost to the Coyote defense, maybe even offense as Martarano was a two-way player at Fruitland High.
The Yotes were 6-5 last year.
