Boise State Defense Loses Another Key Puzzle Piece
It was just a week ago Riley Whimpey was getting high fives from the cadets at Air Force following BSU's win over the Falcons during which Whimpey was being teased about his name.
Whimpey would later say the Cadets were wonderful and he loved the ribbing the entire game. Saturday night in the second half of the Broncos tussle with BYU Whimpey felt his knee give and Sunday he learned he needs surgery to repair a torn ACL and is done for the season.
Whimpey is the latest Boise State defensive standout to succumb to injury and this is a Bronco defense that can't afford to be without a Whimpey linebacker!
Today Boise State coach Bryan Harsin said Whimpey, as always, was in good spirits hoping to help the team anyway he can.
It is that smiling face and positive attitude the Bronco defense will miss the most. Someone will have to step up for Whimpey, not only with athletic ability but also the same energy Whimpey brought to the game.
Riley loved that folks teased him about his last name. I mean here you had.a tough nosed linebacker named Whimpey, He was a natural fan favorite but more importantly, a key puzzle piece in the Bronco defense now preparing to face 16th ranked Fresno State Friday night.
