Hearts have been breaking in the Treasure Valley over a Police K-9 that was lost in the line of duty this week.

During a pursuit in Nampa, the patrol SUV that Riddick the K-9 was riding in was rammed by the suspect. He was a 3 and a half year-old German Shepherd that served the Nampa Police Department for a total of two years. Riddick died at the scene of the crash.

In a publicly shared post online, the Nampa Police Department has made the decision to invite the public to the memorial service which is being held to honor the dog's service. They shared the following:

The community is welcome to join us as we remember our loyal K9 partner and share a little bit about his honorable service to Nampa.
We have no way of knowing how many people will join us, but with the outpouring of support, we expect the service to be well attended.
Parking will be on the driving track at the academy and it is a short walk from the ceremony site.
Earlier in the week, the Nampa Police Department shared the video of Riddick being taken to a local animal hospital, below:

If you are interested in joining the memorial service, you certainly aren't alone. Thousands of people online have been commenting and sharing their condolences with the Nampa Police Department.

The memorial will be taking place on Tuesday, October 1st, at 6:00 p.m. at the Idaho Police K-9 Memorial in Meridian. The address is 700 W. Stratford Dr and it is right in front of the Police Academy. Parking will be on the driving track of the academy.
