If You Get This Text Message, Idaho Officials Say Do NOT Respond
These days, everyone is simply glued to their phones. Frankly, society nearly needs technology anymore to survive. We use our phones for communication, for directions, for social content (which for some is a revenue source) and for our jobs. It's impossible to unplug and when you do--getting caught up is a disaster.
Unfortunately, it's well known that we need (and trust) our phones too much.
Now, authorities here in Idaho are warning residents to NOT engage with a scam that is attempting to take advantage of Idaho drivers by sending dangerous and fraudulent text messages to our phones.
In a release from the Idaho Transportation Department, officials shared the following:
Idaho does not have toll roads, and ITD does not issue toll fines. If you receive a text message demanding payment for an alleged toll violation, do not click any links or provide personal information. If possible, report the message to your mobile carrier. Scammers often use official-sounding language and urgent threats to trick people into clicking on malicious links.
Obviously, we're thankful that the Idaho Transportation Department is looking out for us like this!

Have you received a text like the one above? We certainly have and deleted it! Make sure that your friends, loved ones, and especially any elderly in your life are aware of this scam!
It's important to keep your wits about you!
